Selwyn residents have one less excuse for putting off a skin check, with Molecheck’s Rolleston clinic now open for business.
Selwyn local and Molecheck doctor, Angela Dowle is now consulting every Thursday from a room at Evexias Physiotherapy, 3 Norman Kirk Drive in the new medical facility opposite the Selwyn District Council.
Molecheck General Manager, Sue Wood, says people are becoming increasingly aware of the prevalence of skin cancer and the new Rolleston clinic has opened in response to this demand.
Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in New Zealand with around 70,000 new melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer cases each year in this country.
“While skin cancer can be dangerous, it can often be curable if recognised and treated early enough,” says Sue.
“Key things to look out for on your skin include changes in the size, shape or colour of an existing spot, or the appearance of a new spot. If you have concerns, or just want some peace of mind, it’s always a good idea to get professional advice.”
Molecheck provides a premium service, with Dr Angela Dowle and other specially trained skin cancer doctors providing on the spot diagnosis and in some cases on the spot treatment.
“Everyone who comes to Molecheck sees a doctor who uses the latest dermoscopy techniques to view structures beneath the skin surface that can’t be seen with the naked eye. This matters, as the earlier you spot and treat skin cancer, the better.”
