Dr Clark Stevenson brings his strong interest in skin cancer and a knack for minor surgical procedures to our Christchurch clinic
Originally from Christchurch, Clark’s medical career has been shaped by a fascination with dermoscopy, the art and science of examining skin lesions, and the challenge of diagnosing and treating skin cancers.
“I’ve always enjoyed the hands-on aspect of minor surgeries,” says Clark. “Skin cancer medicine is a field where you can make a real difference, and dermoscopy keeps you on your toes – it’s complex, but incredibly rewarding.”
Clark is a firm believer in prevention and encourages Kiwis to take sun protection seriously from a young age.
“Most of the damage is done early in life,” he explains. “The better protected you are as a child and teenager can lower your risk of developing skin cancer later on.”
When he’s not at the clinic, Clark is a self-confessed serial hobbyist. His current passions include fishing, tramping, and road cycling – all great ways to enjoy the outdoors, especially with good sunscreen and UPF50+ clothing.
