Dr Charis’ approach to patient care is centred on compassion, holistic wellbeing, clear communication and evidence-based practice.
“I love working with my patients to improve their wellbeing and empower them to make decisions about their own health, because this helps create meaningful change.”
She’s a strong advocate for regular skin checks and sun-smart habits, acknowledging “skin cancer is preventable and small steps every day make big differences.”
Charis has travelled all over Aotearoa during her medical career, from bustling ED’s in Auckland and Wellington, to spending time in rural New Zealand working as a locum doctor. In addition to her Molecheck role, Charis also works as a GP at the University of Canterbury.
Before her medical training, Charis was a research scientist in both forensic science and evolutionary microbiology.
She’d describe herself as empathic and a good listener. “I love to have a bit of a laugh with patients as well.”
When Charis isn’t at work, you’ll find her spending time with her whānau (including Doug the dog!) or pottering in the garden – learning to grow vegetables is her current project.
Charis shares our passion for putting patients first – we are lucky to have her on the Molecheck team.
