While working as a GP, Dr Susan Cornah always enjoyed the skin-related aspects of medicine, so when she made the move into skin cancer medicine and joined Molecheck Christchurch in October 2016 it quickly became clear she had found her niche.
What Susan enjoys most about her role is the opportunity to spend meaningful time with patients. Unlike many areas of healthcare, skin cancer medicine allows her to get to know the people she sees and hear their stories.
“I enjoy having enough time with patients to get to know them and hear their interesting stories. It’s one of the most rewarding parts of my role.”
Susan is passionate about the early detection of skin cancer and helping patients feel informed and confident throughout their skin check journey.
When it comes to sun safety, Susan leads by example. Whether she’s outdoors or cycling, she’s diligent about protecting her skin, often wearing a wide-brim hat, long sleeves, long trousers, sun-protective gloves and a face covering to shield herself from New Zealand’s intense UV rays.
Outside the clinic, Susan has a love of adventure. She enjoys wildlife-focused travel to unique destinations and bikepacking trips.
